EU Settlement Scheme: The United Kingdom is due to leave the European Union on 31st October 2019, with or without an agreement governing this departure and the ongoing future relationship between the UK & the EU. The Catholic Church in England and Wales stands in solidarity with all EU citizens who have made their home here, many of whom are an integral and valued part of our parishes, schools and communities, including here in the Diocese of Nottingham. The Church has experienced first-hand the extensive contribution that people from across Europe have made to our society and recognises the evidence that immigration from the rest of Europe, and from further afield, has not undermined opportunities for British citizens, but rather has brought considerable economic and social benefits. However, the law concerning the free movement of people will be changing as a result of decisions taken since the referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU, and EU, EEA & Swiss citizens must apply to the settlement scheme if they are to protect their existing rights and place in our society. British citizens & Irish citizens do not need to apply. There is no fee for applying to this scheme - it is free of charge.

Please visit for more information.

Job opportunity: The Diocese is seeking to appoint a clergy health and well-being coordinator to work with the Bishop and others, to provide support for the health and well-being of the clergy throughout their ministry and into retirement. For more information and application pack contact Fr Paul Chipchase at Willson House 25 Derby Road, Nottingham NG1 5AW or email See the poster in church for further details.

Vacation time: Fr Paul will be away from the parish from Monday 19th August until Saturday 7th September.

LIVE SIMPLY Here is the third and final part of a prayer written by Linda Jones/CAFOD East Anglia:

God of peace and justice, you give us the capacity to change, to bring about a world that mirrors your wisdom.  Create in us a desire to act in solidarity, so that the pillars of injustice crumble and those now crushed are set free. Amen.

Question: As you look at the News reports this week in the various media, can you spot any stories about people experiencing injustice, or fleeing from harm, or suffering as a result of war and conflict? As well as praying for them, who could you contact to plead for help for them? Your local MP? A Government department? A Local NGO or a charity?  The next meeting of the Parish Live Simply Group is on Tuesday September 24th at 7.30pm in the Parish Room.  Come with your ideas. All very welcome.
